Non-Diagnostic Ultrasound Scans
Non-diagnostic ultrasound can offer you a view of your
unborn child through state-of-the-art technology.
Ultrasound Preview offers non-diagnostic ultrasound
scans as a more bonding-oriented supplement to routine
ultrasounds. Couples, families and even grandparents can
view the unborn child on a large TV monitor.
The Traditional 2D
Ultrasound

Traditional
2D ultrasound machines create a cross-sectional
image of the fetus. The new 3/4D ultrasound machines
create images by taking several of these
cross-sections and combining them to create a 3D
image. A 4D ultrasound is a 3D image with movement.
The 3/4D Ultrasound Difference

Ultrasound
Preview now features Aloka 3/4D scanning. 3/4D
ultrasound is a non-invasive ultrasound method for
getting images of the unborn child that are
amazingly life-like and easy to recognize.

At Ultrasound Preview, we look at
your baby in 2D, and a qualified technician will
help you identify different parts of the baby such
as limbs, spine, head, etc. We'll also measure the
baby's heartbeat and let you listen to the beating
heart. Then, the technician will determine if your
baby is lying in the correct position for the 3D
machine to obtain a 3/4D photo and video (in about
15% of mothers, the baby's position does not allow
us to get a 3/4D image). If your baby is lying
correctly, we'll use the 3/4D machine to show you
the baby, and we'll print photos of the 3/4D
images.
In either case, we'll record your scanning session from beginning to end, including all the 2D and 3/4D (if possible) video and sound commentary, voices in the room and the babies heartbeat. You'll be given the video in VHS or DVD format, as well as a printout of any photos we captured.
Preparing for your ultrasound
Here is a bit of information
about what preparation is necessary the day of your ultrasound:
|
|
Empty your bladder 1 hour before the appointment and then do not go to the bathroom again until after the appointment. |
|
|
Try not to drink too much during that hour as we really want you to be comfortable and enjoy your ultrasound. |
|
|
Feel free to eat normally. |
|
|
You will be at the 2D ultrasound for approximately 30 minutes and the 3/4D live ultrasound for approximately 35-45 minutes. |
|
|
Feel free to bring as many people with you as you like. If you have other children we encourage you to bring them as well. |

If you need to cancel or reschedule, we
require 48 business day hours notice or we will charge you for
the appointment.
Example: If you book a Sunday appointment you would need to call by
Thursday of the week before to cancel or reschedule.
